KIMI ZOET
Kimi Zoet (b.1997) is a Dutch artist and PhD researcher at UAL. She received her BA from the University of Bristol and MA from Falmouth University. Her work has been exhibited at Silian Gallery and developed through residencies including PADA, Lisbon, and her current residency at Gallery 475, Fulham.
Zoet’s practice is rooted in direct encounters with people, places and the natural world. Working predominantly outdoors, she responds quickly and intuitively to her surroundings, allowing observation, conversation, chance and the behaviour of materials to shape the work. Her paintings and drawings emerge through an embodied process of looking and making.
Her current project, What Is Wild?, brings together painting, ecology and shared observation. Working with ecologists, Zoet explores what happens when attention is directed towards the overlooked and unruly forms of nature, from the plants growing in her small, untidy urban studio garden to rewilding landscapes beyond the city.
