Mamma

A solo exhibition by Kimi Zoet | 9th July – 12th September 2025 | Silian Gallery, 434 King’s Road, Chelsea, SW10 0LJ

Mamma is the culmination of two years of painting outdoors in Cornwall. The exhibition centres around two characters — Mamma and Pineapple Man — and brings together Kimi’s love of abstract, impressionistic painting with her more illustrative style and storytelling.

At its heart, the show explores a sense of maternal love discovered through the quiet ritual of making art in the open air. Just as Kimi’s own mother is always there at the end of the phone, Mamma — the character she created — became a symbol of that same dependable, nurturing presence in nature. Her sun rises warm. The sea stays chilly for morning swims, where one feels weightless, as if back in a womb. The flowers are fragrant, like fruity snacks. There’s a quiet constancy in it all.

Pineapple Man is an aviator for the inner child — curious, overwhelmed, joyful, sad, loving. The show traces how these two characters encounter each other among the Cornish blossom.

As one woman once said while doing Kimi’s nails, “You never get a badge for motherhood… It’s done with love and little recognition, but you do it anyway.”

This exhibition is, in some small way, that badge — for mothers of all kinds, and for Mamma, the ultimate mother
